March 2009 — RItes of spring. A male hooded merganser, our expectant father, protectively hovers (hood fully up!) around the duck house on our shore. His mate was inside, hopefully finding fit to lay her eggs there.
We put up the wood duck house a couple years ago, but have had no takers yet. Stay tuned.
