Turns out the guy lived there ... the huge station was divided into (mostly empty) apartments. Very friendly, he said he liked meeting people
and invited us inside. Mom, of course, jumped all over that, and told him about her history with the station.
Our host showed us this old map inside — very neat, but in bad condition. An unexpected tour!
