Leaving Halifax, we crossed the Harbour, got on Route 7, the Marine Drive, and were on our way up the southeastern coast.

In and out of coves and inlets, so many beautiful, different views of water, water, everywhere. I would be amazed throughout the trip at how many modest homes were located in the most spectacular settings — lots of opportunity to own waterfront property up here. And, there are many pretty towns, villages, and churches! — the beauty, lines, and charm of which would also characterize Nova Scotia for me.

We left the coast and turned inland, passing through Antigonish on our way to Cape Breton island ... soon after crossing the Canso Causeway we were high above beautiful Bras D'or (arms of gold) Lake. Oh boy .. this trip was already exceeding expectations ...
